  • Jittery liquid behavior on target surface

    Hi there,
I'm having a problem with a paint liquid sim being jittery once the liquid hits the surface.
    I'm using maya 2018.3 and PFD 3.10.0

The surface it's landing on is a mesh that is being deformed by a curve warp modifier that is slowly travelling along an axis, ideally taking the liquid with it
I've attached a youtube link of current progress.

Things i've tried to adjust to reduce/stop this are...
    - increase grid resolution
    - increase step per frame amount
    - mesh smoothness
    - smoothing particle size
    - mesh type is static mesh

I'm not actually sure if these changes would help the liquid stop jumping around and that perhaps the issue might be to do with the surface it is landing on?
as the liquid is landing on this surface, despite its jittery behaviour, i don't think i need to add the surface as a simulation object within the phxsim set.

I should probably mention that this surface has subdivision levels of 2 applied to it, which I have set to be used in the Sim via the PFD extra attribute.

Might there be other setting that i need to adjust that i'm unfamiliar with, that would help this to behave better?
Thanks for any help you might be able to give me on this.

    Hey,

Can you try using the latest 3.14 builds at least?

There are quite a lot of improvements since 3.10 and there are a few fixes regarding deforming geometry that might help with your case.

    Cheers!

Hey, just one additional note - seems to me this happens in the simulation, so any smoothing is unlikely to help. You can verify it by checking if the particles in the particle preview also jitter like the mesh.

      Cheers!

          Hello again.
Well, after updating to 3.14, and even reducing the steps down form 10 to 2, the final result is much, much better. and quicker to sim due to less SPF too!

          new video link for comparison.

          Thanks once again.
