  • which spinner gets rid of these artifacts?

    I'm trying to get some atmosphere arounnd a large led screen. I'm using the static cloud setup (all defaults) in phoenix and lighting it with the screen as a light material.

    Which spinner do i increase to remove the coloured artifacts inside the volume? Is a more detailed sim needed?

    Does it help if you disable the Volume Light cache in the Smoke color options?

      No i doesn't seem to affect it.

      I think i have traced its source though, to the light material. It is something i've never used in combination with phoenix.

        Here's a render after i replaced the light material with a vray plane light & the image map in the slot. Looks like it was the culprit.

        I guess to control the vray light material, i would have to increase the global sampling rate & probably the max subdivisions.

          Great, glad that you figured it out. Indeed using a light material with a texture would need more samples to look good.
