  • Fire lights issue

Any ideas why is this happening? Fire illuminates the outer part of the wall? Tried with higher steps per frame. smaller cell size, different object, same thing.
    Thanks.

    Hey,

This looks like a rendering issue not a simulation one.

Which versions of Phoenix and V-Ray are you using?

How about if you increase the Light resolution % in the Fire lights options or if you switch the self-shadowing to ray-trayced?

This was with Ray traced self shadowing, i believe too its must be a rendering issue .
      Phoenix 4.40.00
      Vray 5 update 1.3 (5.10.03)
Maybe i will try with 4.4100
      Thanks

        Hey,

The fire lights are just a low-res grid with sphere lights. The resolution of the grid is set using the Light Resolution option.

So, if the grid is very low res, the light spheres will be huge and will penetrate objects that enclose the fluid. You must either keep increasing the Light Resolution until the light spheres do not penetrate the geometry anymore, but this will make rendering progressively slower, or you must turn Create Fire Light off completely and let the GI carry the light around the scene.

The self shadowing options affects how the fire lights illuminate the smoke of the simulator - it will not affect the surrounding geometry at all.

Here is the long and more detailed explanation on this docs page: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/PHX4MAX/Render+Fire

        Hope this helps!
