  • Weird glow rendering Phoenix VDB with Arnold

Hi - Having issues rendering a VDB cache to Arnold - I'm getting a weird glow within the box. Am I setting the grids correctly or is there a Phoenix output that prevents this? Images below.

Other Volumes work ok - but although my students work with Phoenix - they render in Arnold (sorry )

    Hello,

If this is glowing, I would bet the Emission is the reason. I see you have mapped the Phoenix temperature channel there. It is in Kelvins, meaning room temperature is about 300 all over the grid, and it ranges up to 2000-3000. Check this page: https://docs.chaos.com/display/PHX4M...Channel+Ranges

I don't know what Arnold expects as a channel range, but I would guess that these values above 300 are bothering it so it interprets them as weak fire. Maybe there are any Arnold tools that would allow you to remap the grid channel and somehow subtract 300 from it?

    Cheers!

      Hey,

You will need to remap the values for the Temprature. Check this video how to do that - https://docs.chaos.com/display/PHX4M...cheswithArnold
