  • Scene with FDFire and Phoenix Foam Particle Shader is not rendering on VRay RTX GPU

    Hello there,

I am currently experiencing an issue in my scene built with 3DSMax 2022. I set up a Tyflow setup which births a few particles. Then I created a Phoenix Fire/Smoke simulation around the Tyflow object. I then linked the Tyflow event to a Phoenix Source element which is set to particles. In order to make the particles visible, I added a Phxfoam object to the scene, which should make my particle explosion renderable. If I render the scene on my CPU, everything workes just fine. Now I wanted to make the rendering faster by switching to my RTX GPU but once this renderer is selected, I am only receiving black screens in the render window. It doesn't matter wheather I'm in VRay's IPR or the production renderer. Is there a fix to this issue? The picture attached shows the result on the normal CPU render engine by VRay. The exact same scene delivers only a black rendered screen on the VRay GPU renderer.

    Thank you!

    Hey,

Currently the points and cellular modes of the Particle shader are not yet supported with V-Ray GPU. This is still in the to do list. Adding one more vote for it.

Maybe as a workaround you can use some of the other modes instead? Or you can render the particles as geometry and use really small spheres?

Here you can find which Phoenix features are supported with V-Ray GPU - https://docs.chaos.com/display/PHX4M...atures+Support

2 years later... Is there any chance to get cellular mode on GPU?
Just kidding - I know it will never happen...
It's a pity this wasn't done in the beginning...
