  • Foam particles is jumping too much up and down.

    Hi,

I have a liquid ocean sim where I think the foam is behaving a bit strange. The foam particles seem to jump too much up and down vertically. Any idea what settings I should change to avoid this?
Here are some previews of the foam and splashes. The foam particles are the green ones, and the splashes are cyan.

    Here is a preview: https://vimeo.com/691350116/c22288c840

I attached a screenshot of the settings

Ok, I increased the surface lock value from 0 to 0.95. That seemed to help!

      Hey,

It seems like the Foam Rising Speed is a bit higher than it should. You might want to lower it and experiment with it in order to achieve the desired look.

Here is a page explaining the options located in the Foam rollout - https://docs.chaos.com/display/PHX4MAX/Liquid+Foam.
We have a video that shows how the different values of the Rising Speed option affect the simulation - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx9j...rAYyMzAzMjAyMg.

      Hope this helps!

        Hello,

I'll also add that a high Falling Speed value can contribute to bubbles getting thrown away from the sim, since it affects how far a flying foam particle may travel. As Slavina pointed out, the Rising Speed can also lead to this behavior, since at higher values, the foam particles can shoot out of the liquid surface into the air.

In addition to these two parameters, as you noted, increasing the Surface Lock can help to minimize this behavior, as it influences the liquid movement over the surface bubbles.

I hope that extra information is useful
