  • odd bumpy sim for the pool

    Hello,

Just a quick question, i get this small bumps in the very simple pool sim.
I have quite high cell count, to get nice detail from the interaction, but no matter was res (even much higher than i need) i always keep getting these small bumps in the water sim.

There in no splash or anything its really only basic sim.
Tried steps from 2 to 12 per frame, pretty much stays the same.

Went as far as exporting as alembic and trying to smooth and relax that, but it had very small effect.

I have a feeling like i am doing something wrong, since i believe i should be able to get nice clean smooth waves in there.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Hey, as I suggested in the facebook group, increasing the Scene Scale might improve this if the reason is the particles being too lively and jittering around, creating these bumps.

Also, at render time you could try Phoenix's two smoothing tools - Mesh smoothing and Grid smoothing - check here for more info: https://docs.chaos.com/display/PHX4M...+and+Smoothing

A combination of the scene scale simulation change and the two render time smoothing changes is also perfectly valid. Actually even a relax modifier on top of all that is perfectly valid too - you shouldn't need to export to ABC in order to be able to apply a modifier on top of the simulator mesh.

    Cheers!
