I'm getting this error during simulation and it's always the same frame. When I click OK, Max crashes and when reopened this frame works just fine.

I noticed something about Phoenix 5 being released. Is there something worth considering in a middle of a project. I'm currently working with liquid in a cyclone phenomena. It seems to be too much for Phoenix to understand.

Well where did this cache file come from?

If you simulated it, what version of Phoenix did you use, and what version do you use now?

If you simulated it with a newer version and opened it in an older version, chances are that it won't open because the format is changing and older versions can't possible know what the new things in the newer format could be.

    Cheers!

      Thanks for Your answer,

The cache file is in simulation destination directory. I have used my current Phoenix version as on screenshot.

Anyway, I just heard, there's a new version and I'm considering updating it. I saw there's some new presets, but is there any changes in simulation algorithm?

Hmmm, if you used the same Phoenix version to create these caches, then it could be that your disk storage has problems and the cache files got corrupted. Maybe run a disk check tool just in case?

Here are the full changelogs with everything new and fixed since Phoenix 4.40 - there are changes to the solvers and some more options as well

I'm trying to simulate liquid in cyclone. It's not easy to get this physically correct. Is there any improvements in Phoenix 5, that would make this more accessible. Has anyone tried to simulate liquid in cyclone?

            Hey,

I added some suggesions in the other thread about how you can use the Particle Tuner for this kind of shot.

And here you can find all the new things we have added in Phoenix 5 and 5.01

And here are some videos that go over in depth on how to use the new features:

              Love these version change logs:

Would be awesome if the nightlies release notes looked more like this

Yess, there is a lot to be desired on the nightlies site. Something I imagined for years was to have some info for all the builds, like not only what's new, but what are the known bugs or even regressions in every nightly...

That would be so awesome, for everything Chaos related.

                    Thanks,

I noticed, Phoenix don't have perpetual licenses available anymore. I don't know if I'm wealthy enough to move to rental licenses. What happens if rental license expires in a middle of a project, and I don't have enough money to renew. I think the risks are too high for me. If there were possibility to upgrade my perpetual license I would have done that already.
