  • PRTReader Particles Clip Oddly When Attach Node Transform Off

    • Load up the attached scene (making sure the prt file reference is updated in the PRT Reader... I included three frames of the prt sequence in the zip).
    • Go to the first frame in the timeline -- 1127 .
    • Now Select the PRT Reader object and turn OFF Attach Node Transform.
    • The particles will vanish from the lower left view in the quad view.

Somehow the clipping gets messed up with Attach Node Transform off (presumably to do with the bounding box now including the world origin).

Max 2023.3 VRay and Phoenix are both currently Apr 18 nightlies.

Thanks. Sorry to always be bringing you bugs, but if we don't report them they will never get fixed

Absolutely, even if we don't fix them immediately, they need to be in the list. Thank you! Meanwhile, as a workaround, is it an option for you to import the PRT in the Simulator?

Oh, the Simulator itself will load prt files? That is cool. I have not tried.

For this project it is OK that I can't see it in the viewport. I know what it looks like (carbonation inside a bottle).

        Hey,

Thanks for the scene! We reproduced the problem and it looks like that particles loaded via the PRT Reader disappear from the viewport when the Attach Node Transform option is disabled and the PRT Reader icon is located/moved outside the viewport.
Another workaround, along with what Svetlin mentioned above, could be to move the PRT Reader icon inside the viewport.

        Hope this helps!

Oh yes, added the PRT import in the Simulator a little before Phoenix 5 - it allows for things that the PRT Reader can't do, such as retiming of PRT sequences:

Oh, awesome. So I can stop using PRTLoaders for that.
