  • Rendering Phoenix slow on AMD EPYC 7773x CPU's

We've got a project rendering on backburner using Phoenix and the Dual EPYC's racks we have are taking the same time (50mins) per frame as a single i7 10700K node.
For general rendering the Dual Epycs are around 4-8 times faster usually depending on what its rendering.

Is there any known compatibilty issues between EPYC chips and Phoenix? It seems 126 Cores and 256 Threads isn't really giving it an advantage usind Phoenix.
We switched off Phoenix to test and the performance of the EPYC's are back to it's normal speed.

    Cheers

Hey, which Phoenix version do you use?

Also, what are you rendering? Fire/smoke, or Phoenix meshes, or points/bubbles/splashes using the Particle Shader?

    Thank you!

The latest Phoenix 5.10.00 and rendering just smoke

We realised we had set a time limit and noise limit to the rendering time hence everything was finishing around 50 mins. So it's not a Phoenix issue.

      Thanks for your response though.
