  • Preview liquid, Splashes, Foam, and Mist not showing in viewport

I am using 3D Max 2024 with the latest Phoenix. I am only able to preview the mesh in the viewport window and the particles preview doesn't seem to work at all. I see black dots and the ocean mesh only. Any ideas what is happening?

    Hello,

Looks like your Detail reduction is set to 41 which is quite a lot - if you disable the auto reduction and set the detail reduction to a lower value 2-3 - you should be able to see the particle preview a bit better.
The high detail reduction will show only a few particles in the viewport in order to improve the performance in the viewport.

If you have the RGB channel enabled in the output and you haven't changed the default RGB channel of the particles either via a liquid source or a Tuner - the liquid particles will be black in the viewport - I suspect that the black dots are representing the liquid particles in your scene.
