  • Grid visible when rendering with EnvFog

I have a simulation where fireball is moving around the scene - quite randomly.
I'm using adaptive grid which is following the sim nicely and it's outputting
    fire, smoke and velocity.

Rendering with phoenix looks good, but when rendering using envfog, the grid
gets filled with "haze". It kinda looks like there is some threshold errors or I have
adjusted opacity curves wrong, but that's not the case. I have tried different opacity
modes (temperature, smoke, simple smoke) and adjusted curves manually. I have also
tried to tighten thresholds from phoenix opacity settings and from envfog settings.

I have done similar setup with beta and it worked well. Now for some reason, I can't
    get it to work anymore.

...and here is some images showing the problem.
I hope it's still visible in these jpeg's.

can't see the problem, only the transparency is not equal, perhaps the fog distance is different from the cell size.

Okay, now I did get rid of it. Went playing with transparency settings again, resetting it etc. and now it works.
Anyway, it's weird how it worked earlier. I mean, how it was visible in envfog only.

"can't see the problem, only the transparency is not equal, perhaps the fog distance is different from the cell size."

Yeah, the effect is really light. I can see it only when I cycle those attachements and imagine the place for the grid.
But in vfb, it is more visible and can be seen when checking pixel values too.

Hmm, I could send you the non working scene anyway. It's ultra simple and light.

              adaptivegrid.zip

Here's the max file. If you simulate it to frame 37, that's the rendered frame.

              Used: Max 2010 x64 - Vray 1.5 sp5

Maybe it's time to calibrate your monitor then.

heh, i think i got it. when you said "grid" i sought to see the cells of the grid, that are almost always visible, but not in your case not the cells, the box is the broblem isn't?
