  • Required RAM -> actual memory usage?

What is actually the required RAM showing?

I'm currently calculating 400 frames simulation.
Now in frame 127 it's showing required ram 430MB and the pagefile is going up
all the time. Now it's in 4,4GB and when I get to frame 270, it's going to be over 9GB
and I have to stop the sim. It looks like all the simulated frames are kept in memory and not released ever.

    Any ideas?

It's actually happening with the same scene I attached to the other thread.

        Happens with 2011 also.

Funny thing is, that I can simulate to frame 112 pagefile now showing 6,6GB.
Then I restart the Max and continue simulation from 112 and the pagefile starts from 2,1GB.
Maybe in frame 220 I need to restart Max again

it's really a memory leak, appears when adaptive grid is turned on and exists fuel/smoke channel
          thanks for the report

I have had this problem with the temperature channel as well, after working with the same scene for a while, memory usage goes up to damn near the max of my system, 24 G!

it is using adaptive grid, isn't? if not this may be some different problem.

Yes adaptive grid is on, seems way faster to use this option early on, before the leak happens....
