  • Missile Fire and Smoke Problem

I've been trying to solve this for awhile. Chaosgroup support says the issue is because of the Transparency under "Colors and Transparency" settings. They are probably correct but I've been adjusting this and only get bad results. Below are my images and settings. If you have any suggestions to solve this, please tell me. Test02, is closer but the lines in the fire are very strange and I can't figure out how to make it a solid fire.

try with the settings of the test01, but decrease the "simple smoke factor" , try with 0.1.
for test02 the rendering step is too big as i see, try to decrease it.

Thanks Ivaylo! The Rendering Steps % adjustment helps a lot! Im going to use this as a base and continue to improve from that. Im getting better results using Temperature in my Transparency Source than Simple Smoke. I tried Adjust (Test01) Simple smoke factor 0.1 when I had the Source set to "Simple Smoke" but it made almost no difference. But I will try to continue to improve the launch! Thanks for your help!

Also, what would you suggest to make the flame less wavy and more like a blow torch? Like a real missile is a very straight flame, without waves or turbulence. I thought with my Vorticity at 0 this would make it straight but it doesn't.... Any suggestions?

I've done this (lowered to 0.2), and it now has a serious sputter. A big burst of fire then the next few frames are almost no fire, then the next frame is a big burst. I can't seem to find the right setting to have a steady flame with almost no interruption or distortion. Is this possible? Below are my settings:

Maybe you will share simplified scene, so we can set proper settings ?
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

Yes I can, how do I get it to you? Should I email you a zip or max file?

Use attachment system or free hosting.
                rghost.net (preferable)
                Dropbox.com

see the candle sample scene, it has settings for laminar flame.

OK, I've uploaded the max file as a zip. I didn't included the textures and I only included the objects I thought were important. I hope this helps. Also I tired matching it closer to the candle settings, But Im still getting burst of fire instead of a clean stream. Though it's a bit better from what I had before, the burst is still noticeable.. Thanks for your help on this!
