Render Fails After Installing Frost Demo

Anyone else have a similar problem? The file works in Max 2011, where I didn't install the demo.

Although the preview looks good I have to reopen in a different Max version in order to render the atmosphereics.

any additional atmospheres in the list? in the most cases, the different atmospheres are disturbing each other

No, no other...This even happens with the fine smoke sample

Don't know if this relates, but I often cannot select the component of the simulator from the foam component. I click the box, hit 'h" and select the sim, but no dropdown is visible. GTX560, Windows 7 64 bit and Max 2012 without SP1.
