  • Trying to use some curves to drive fluid simulation.

Hi, I am Sungmin Hong, effector from Locus.

I am currently trying to use curve as a force to make pheonix fluid simulation flow along it.
I thought force field will do the trick. So I connected curve's worldspace channel to force field's input curve channel.
As soon as I did that force icon figure immidiatly changes into the shape of curve, which I tried to connect with. I thought it might gonna work for sure.
But it seems like it's not doing the job that I was thinking of, instead driving fluid simulation really weird. If I may try to describe, basically no action at all.
Even the normal fluid simulation without any force isn't working at all.

    So here's the question,
    1. Is force field meant to be use as a force for fluid simulation? or is it for the particles that is emitted from Pheonix FD itself?
    2. If force field is for fluid simulation, what are the things that I have done wrong above?
    3. If force field wasn't meant to be used as a force for fluid, is there anyway in Maya to make Pheonix fluid flow along curves??

phoenix supports directly the forces, no need to drive particles. is your setup affecting the PF particles?

Are you using the Maya version? If so, it's better to write in the beta forum: http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbu...hoenix-FD-beta
To drive the simulation along a curve, you must use the Volume Axis field. Phoenix force field is a field that is used only for external objects, like Maya particles. I can give you a scene with a curve flow monday.

Thanks for the reply, and yes I am using Pheonix in maya. I'll try posting on beta forum again.
But I was kind of curious, whether Force field is being used as fluid force in Max.
And also what are the things that we can do to allow Pheonix fluid to be drived along curves in Max as well.

I guess I'll try using volume field first. Thanks again.

i tried to use Path Follow force in max, but without success. if the reason is in the force, we will provide our force, otherwise it should be a bug that we can fix
