  • Problem with Collisions

    Hi.

I'm having some doubts with one simulation I'm doing.

Let's see if someone can help

The point is one rat who's jumping into a cup filled with liquid.

When the rat is jumping and has contact with the liquid I felt like the collision was not the one it was supposed to be.

The geometry is point cached and I have my scene interaction object velocity in "per vertex" mode.

As it didn't work I tried with a version of the rat and keyframed it in translation and rotation to match the pointcached one and voilĂ  !
the intercation started to feel like it should be.

Any ideas why this happen ?

Also i'd like to have more "waves" on my interaction, I mean I started with the water preset but it looks to viscous, even with viscosity is set to 0 ... any ideas ?

Resume: 1- Keyframed transform geometry work better than skinned in fluid interaction.

    2- Liquid to viscous ....

    Did you add splashes?

It seems that the per vertex velcoity was broken for objects that are not sources at some point (this bug is in the official build also).

As a work-around, make the rat geometry also a source. Set the "Discharge" to 0 and enable only the Velocity. As a bonus, you can tweak the velocity multiplier.

I will fix this in the nightlies.

          Grrrrrrrrreat !!

          It works !

I was messing around for a couple of days with this problem and thought that I was doing something wrong.

Actually, the trick to be able to Multiply the velocity is quite cool.

Hope we don't lose this "feature" when the bug is fixed

If you don't mind post something here when is fixed, please.
This way I won't have to check the nightlies everynite.
