  • Can't get adaptive grid to work with temperature

If I use smoke for adaptive grid, it works just fine. For the explosion I'm working on, I'd like to use temperature channel, but the grid wont adapt.
I've tried different threshold values, but nothing works.

    Ideas?

your adaptive threshold was set to 1, it is not normal for fire, set it to 1000.
btw try to use simple spf settings - 100/2/2, the SPF auto adjustment seems to be problematic

Well, the value might have been 1 in my last save, because I had tested so many different (even weird) values.
But yes, setting it to 1000 does work. What would be the lowest level to work with? 200? I mean, if I set it to 1000, doesn't it clip the smoke when the situation is getting cooler in the end? I tried to use smoke threshold, but even with very low values the grid started to clip from top.

Anyway, now I have working solution for this project already, so that's not a problem at the moment.

I could try those simple spf settings next time.

          Thanks.

if you are with the official build, these settings may lead to very big adaptive grid, because the maximal step is considered the safe distance from the active part of the simulation to the borders.

I'm still using the official build, but the new version is coming soon, so I can wait.
If there's going to be something I cant solve with the current version, I might change my mind.
...or is there any critical reason for going to nightly builds?

for such an explosion the official build is good enough.

Afaik 300 is the base-temperature. So if you want all temperature in the grid set it to 305 or something. Be aware of some growth, as Ivaylo mentioned.
