    What are your memory timings?
Mine are 800, 8 8 8 24. I'm on 16gb at the moment, we're yet to build a phoenix machine - seeing what we need first.

I don't know. I haven't found a tool yet that will tell me in Windows with the new Xeon processors. CPU Tweaker fails to install. Any other suggestions?

I am going to preface my next comment by not knowing any development towards multithreading and phoenix.

The fastest iCore7 in the office typically does the best for simulation. I figure the higher frequency of the processor gives it an advantage. It only has 32GB of Ram.

        I use http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
The far right table of the SPD section is what you need.

I'm also on an i7 at 3.5 ghz.

Okay, after a couple of crashes, I was finally able to get CPU-z working.

          Here are my results.

The higher clocked CPU you have, the faster Phoenix will run. I always suggest to leave these Xeons for rendering, and buy the fastest quad core you can find. For dual processor machine, it's better to start two simulations at the same time, but it may be more difficult for configuration since each CPU must use separate physical memory for best CPU utilization. The Maya version have NUMA control which helps a bit with this configuration.

              Exactly.

Most of my machines are now used by people, so I will just have to deal with my dual Xeon.
