  • Sphere emitting particles -> enters the grid - instant crash

    Hi

    I have a quite basic setup where I have a sphere that is emitting small amount of particles. Both are selected as source.
    When particles enters the grid, Max will crash instantly.

    Hi,

    I don't get the crash, but the simulation process stops after the 5th frame.
    It seems that the Noise modifier added to the Sphere is the reason for that, but I will do more testing before i make a more concrete conclusion.

    Edit: are you able to make a complete simulation if you add an additional Edit poly modifier at the top of the GeoSphere001 list?

      Thanks.

      If I don't have particles, but only the sphere with noise modifier, everything works fine.
      So that's why I thought it could be the problem with the particles. Let's see.

        Yes. I collapsed the sphere to editable mesh and now everything works just fine with the particles. Weird.

          yes, as the investigation shows, the particle system is to blame, but nevertheless you can use the edit poly workaround until the fix

            I had crashes, where spheres deformed with noise modifer + FFD. Always crashed on sim start right after I restarted max. Then I collapsed - everything worked ok.
            I just can't seem to trust myself
            So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?
