  • Water is disconnecting with finer grid

    Hi there,

with the latest nightly (2013, 28th Dec) I had fabulous results, letting my "wine" pour into a glass! Not leaking and weird behavior so far (didnt render it yet though, because, but strangely the nicely flowing liquid became disconnected in regular distances from each other when the grid was set finer (see attached screens), which is very weird, because I would think it that would happen with a rougher grid and not a finer one.
    Am I setting something wrong?
I am currently thinking of working with the rough grid and then resimulating (never tried that feature) and/or working with displacement and splashes and/or foam to get the detail that would come with a finer grid.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you in advance!

    Manuel

    very interesting
in many videos made with other simulators you can see the same, but in phoenix it happens very rarely.
the reason is the source setup, i suppose it is too thin, just make it thicker.

Thanks. I will try. The reason I did it with just one plane is that the liquid got stuck in my cylinder and moved upwards kind of and didnt stop producing more liquid from there or kept dropping slowly. Like this:

(The selected polygons are the only ones producing liquid btw.

I guess the problem is again because the cylinder is moving and the conflict with the grid..cascading mode would again help I guess. How is the tutorial coming along btw? I know, between Holidays and New Years you probably didnt have time to work on it..

Thank you for the file. I made few tests with your scene and it seems that the simulation issue is caused by the Wetting parameter "On" and animated emitter.

In the latest Phoenix builds we have "clear when moving" option, which will help in such cases.
