  • emitting maya particles into FD simulation

So I figured out how to emit nParticles with the phoenixFDemitter, however now they don't move, they just remain static after birth. How can I have them be affected by the phoenix simulation?

    Thanks in advance!!

The idea of the particle emitter is just to emit particles inside the simulation based on the fluid properties. You need a field to move them. If you just want to emit particles from a geometry and move them inside the simulator, use the "Particles" attribute of the source. Otherwise it will be to slow and will require too much memory. To move standard particles inside the simulator, you can use the Phoenix FD Field.

      Thanks for the info.

I tried what you suggested and understand what you're saying. Now I realize I can use something else for my intentions. I can switch on the nParticle option after I have generated phoenix particles, then I basically get what I want. Maya particles moving inside of the phoenix simulation.

      Thanks for the help!
