  • 3DS Max crashes with high Cell amount

    Hey,
When I'm simulating with a high amount of Cells my 3DS Max often crashes. This is happening when the simulation reaches about 50 Million Cells. At the moment I only have 8 GB Ram. Do I need more to run Phoenix without crashes? I'm using 3DS Max 2012 with Phoenix FD 2.2.
    Thanks for your help!

    Sincerely,
    Christian Heynert

yes, you need more ram, 50M cells is very probably to produce crash on 8G, especially if you try to perform intermediate rendering.
for the moment you can disable all the preview channels to prevent the reloading of the cache files and to wait until the end of the simulation without rendering, this gives you more chances to avoid the memory overloading. of course is good to close any other software.
