  • Can't reproduce "Using Phoenix FD to Create Liquid Simulations - Wine" tutorial

I'm trying to reproduce Michael McCarthy's "Using Phoenix FD to Create Liquid Simulations - Wine" tutorial on Youtube and can't get past the the point where he simulates new particles inside the 2nd simulator from the liquid/particles of the first to fill the wineglass from the liquid in the bottle.

All goes well until I uncheck "Solid Object" in the first simulator's PhoenixFD Properties. Then nothing happens/the excessive particles previously generated from the 1st simulators "surface" are gone and no new particles are being generated from the liquid as is shown in the video.

Any idea what's going on/what I'm missing? I'm using the latest version for Vray 2.4 in Max 2012. Haven't tried in a higher version of Max yet.

    Cheers!

    Hello,

Would it be possible to attach the scene you are working on for investigation.
Let us know what Phoenix FD version you are using.

Thank you very much in advance.

      Hi,

thank you very much for your speedy reply.

I've got it working now. My mistake, I had "Output>Velocity" enabled on the wrong simulator. It's working great now.

Anyways, while I'm at it, I'd like to thank you guys and Michael McCarthy for posting all those great tutorials on Youtube recently. I rarely have to the time to do a whole of of experimenting and reproducing those tuts, it's super-easy to take the things learned on to the next step, since most of the tuts are very production-scenario oriented in content and quality of results. They've really got me appreciating PhoenixFD a lot more and have gotten me very motivated to dig deeper into the software. I'm looking forward to more of those.

      Cheers!
