  • Phoenix collisions on deforming geometry not working

Hey guys, I'm running liquid sims and am having troubles getting proper collisions with deforming geo. I've uploaded one of the phoenix example scenes and have added some animation to the collision object to illustrate my issue. Does anyone have any tips on how to make phoenix respect deforming collision objects? I've tried many things to no avail. Are there any tips?

    What I've tried:

Turning up Maya's FPS to 240 (Made some improvement, but not much)
Made a phxSOURCE for the collision object, with discharge off, and velocity turned on
Scene interaction (Object velocity) to per vertex
Different advection methods and cranking up steps per frame
Different conservation methods and cranked up quality to 200
Messed with Adv Max Step and Adv SPFU

This has been tried in Maya 2014 - Both in 2.10.10_24236 and the latest 2.20 nightly beta

    Hi,

Try to add Phoenix object attributes to the collusion geo and set the option "Clear Inside Solids" to "Clear and force update".
You may also increase the SPF value as well.

Thanks a ton, Tashko! That fixes it. I had no idea we had to add attributes to the mesh (Didnt know the menu existed). Perfect!

Glad to hear that it fixes the issue. This option is very useful for animated geometry.
