  • Foam Splash Particle Size differs with DR rendering

I am using the latest nightly build ( if you know of one that does not have this issue let me know). 10/12/14

I am seeing much larger PHX Foam Splash particles when using Distributed Rendering. The local machine renders them at the correct size, but the ndoes render them quite big (possibly ten times).

I am going to try a farm render, rather than DR.

I need one of the nightlies for some other issues.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

I had been using the release version of 2.1 and it did not have this issue (though it had other issues with motion blur not staying consistent on a single held frame - Direct Frame option in the Simulator Input rollout.)

So it's not just DR. The other nodes render the foam bigger than the workstation. The workstation always renders smaller for some reason, even if it is rendering with 3dsmaxcmd.exe.

Is there a way to check the version on the workstation and the render nodes? I have reinstalled it on the workstation and a couple nodes.

The workstation says 2.20 revision 24510 even though I know I installed the nightly called build 25058

          Figured it out!

I had a custom plugin path for the vrayplugins on the workstation. The installer was putting the latest Phoenix into the default location... Whew!

such a bug is 100% indication for different builds on the render nodes, would be good to display a warning, but this must be part of vray, phoenix has no connection to the dr machines

A warning would be really cool. If VRay could check and see if any plugins had differing versions that would be exceedingly helpful for anyone with a farm more than a few machines.

              Thanks.

This has already been added into our system but it is not implemented yet.
