  • Initial Fill Waterlevel Collapses

    Hi,

i tried to do a just simple scene with a container filled with "water" and an object dropping in.

as soon i set the initaial fill up level to about 80%, it fills up but collapses afterwards. why is that?

im using maya w. vray 3 and phoenix nightly build 25583

Hello, try to increase the Steps per frame to about 4-8. Are you using the Classic advection?

how much is the physical size of the container? if the container is just few cm or smaller, you need extremely high spf for stable behavior

          hi,
so my container is 25x25x56 units - unit = cm ...so it's not that small.

but here is the scene...when raising the cells (decreasing the cellsize) it's getting worse. looks unstable and wobbly.

sorry i put maya binary at first but the other one should be ascii

sounds like small size of the container, but we wil see the scene.
containers about one meter wide require spf 2 or more. container 25 cm requires spf about 10 and as you mentioned the smaller cells will make it worse. my suggestion - just increase the spf up to values where the sim becomes stable, or use fake bigger scale. i have seen this trick used in many movies, not trained user can't recognize that the scale is bigger.
