  • version for MAX 2016 not working.

Hi! I downloaded the version for MAX 2016 the night versions, and it does not work, it gives an error message and it does not even show up in MAX. Says failed to initialize, error code -126 the specified module can not be found.

    Thanks

Not only that, it screwed the version installed in Max 2015.... same with Vray, if I do a custom installation for MAX 2016 it stops working on MAX 2015

Can you give us more info on that:
        - What is the archive name of the Phoenix build you tried?
        - Which V-Ray version do you use?
        - Which settings do you change during a custom installation?
        - Does the problem still occur if instead of a custom installation, you use the default install settings?

it was the last build available on Friday... the installer always have the same name so hard to know what version is. May be you should name the installers after the build name so you know what you are installing for cases like this one.

I'm not sure the the version of Vray does really matter? The plugin was just not laoded by MAX at all, just said it finished to initialize. I'm using the latest available version of fully released Vray.

During custom installation I changed the number 2015 by 2016 on the paths.

the dafault installation didn not detected MAX 2016.

And can you make it so one can install in more than one version without killing the previous veersion. We like to have 2015 still functional while we check that all goes fine with the 2016 and migrate to it.

          Thanks

can you check in the max2016 directory, there is a subfolder plugin\vrayplugins inside, and if the installation is successful it must contain phoenix2.dlr file

My guess is that your max2016 directory is not the default either, am I correct?

When you run the Phoenix installer for max 2016, are the default paths to max just empty?

The V-Ray version is important to us, because the error you get shows up when you are using Phoenix for V-Ray, but there is either no V-Ray installed, or the compatibility has failed.
You can try to install a Phoenix for Defscanline build and see what happens.

Sure, I'll give it a try... but my installation directory is the default. Should the 2016 installation cohexist with the 2015?

Is there any version of PhoenixFD that we can use with max 2016 and vray right now?

I tried 25745 and 25761 and they both crash when trying to start a liquid sim.

Tried too - version from 7-th march works. Not sure for 2016 tho
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

There's an issue with the FLIP solver in the more recent builds and it affects all max versions. Stay tuned for the fix.

I tried to install Phoenix on Max 2016 but it failed.

                            Says:
"DLL <C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2016\plugins\vrayplugins\Phoenix2.dlr> failed to initialize.
Error code 126 - The specified module could not be found."

When I install it of course I change the directory to 3ds max 2016.

The plugin as I checked, it is inside the specified directory.

                            Whats wrong though?

                              Hello,

Are you using a nightly build or an official one? Could you please also share:
                              - the name of the rar archive if it was a nightly
                              - the version of V-Ray you have installed, if you are using Phoenix for V-Ray
