mesh and boolean

Is there an example file of this scenario.

I need to remove an area from the mesh simulation for rendering. I have tried boolean and proboolean but get errors.

it seems to work fine here, except one tricky point- you are obligated to use "show mesh" option of the preview. this is known issue but is not investigated because is considered minor.

I always have show mesh on but it still doesn't work. Please post an example file.
