Can someone please clarify how to set these up

My scene is located here P:\ProjectX\Phoenix\fountain\
    I have a cache simmed to F:\Caches\Phoenix\fountain\v003

I want to resim for splash and foam. What path do I need to put into the particle resimulation output and render path? I want it to be on my local F drive.

    If I choose this path
    F:\Caches\Phoenix\fountain\v003\SplashFoam\splashf oam__####.aur

When I turn resim particles on the mesh either disappears or changes shape - as in it's reading a completely different simulation.

    Hello,

The important thing for resimulation is that the resim input points to your original caches (F:\Caches\Phoenix\fountain\v003). It shouldn't matter where you resim output points, as long as it doesn't overwrite your original simulation.

Please check this for more info:
    http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/P...orResimulation

Also, are you using FLIP? I think it still does not support resimulation, Ivaylo Katev should be able to tell.

yes I'm using FLIP - maybe that's why it looks different because it is just simulating the whole thing perhaps?

Also the documentation does not make sense, which is why I asked the question.

Okay, that's good to know. We'll update the docs, but could you please elaborate more on what doesn't make sense?

flip is still not supporting resimulation, hopefully in two weeks it will.

it says to point at the same path and it will add "_resim" to the name (It doesn't as far as I can tell). Do I then need to add "_resim" to the path? If it reads the cache from input or resim paths dependent on whether the 'resim particles' box is checked what happens if I delete the base cache?

Maybe it is just because I'm using FLIP but the resimmed caches appear to be self contained and different to the base cache.

OK, probably ignore all the stuff I just said

Ah, I see what you mean - so if you are using the default paths, Phoenix will automatically name the resimulation output caches for you, adding a "_resim" - they will be in the same directory, just named differently.

Otherwise, if you are setting the paths manually, you have to make sure the resim output does not overwrite the resim input, or you might get weird results.

If you delete the base cache, then you would simply not be able to resimulate - you need a base cache with velocity to operate on.
