  • PhoenixFD mesh update and Corona renderer

    Hi!
I have noticed that with Corona renderer Phoenix FD meshes dont update between frames in animation. With Vray it works.

There is a thread about this on the corona forums
    https://corona-renderer.com/forum/in....html#msg42736

There is a same "bug" in realflow too.

Maybe you should check this out.

ok, we will see this, i suspect corona has some contribution to the problem too, but is fully possible that we can workaround it in our side.

Phoenix does not officially support Corona. The name of the executable that installs Phoenix contains either V-Ray or Defscanline, which are the two supported renderers.

I suspect you are rendering in Mesh mode, is this correct?

Did you try the script that you provided in your link? I would guess it will do the job, since most probably Corona does not notify Phoenix that the next animation frame has come, while the script forcefully changes the frame on the timeline, which would be enough for a proper animation.

i would correct svetlin's statement about the support, actually we support all max-friendly render engines, i.e. the ones based on the standard max api and not requiring special dedicated shaders, the only requirement is to install the defscanline build (perhaps we have to rename it to nonvray) , because the vray build needs vray to be present.

Indeed, I stand corrected. Looks like Corona does not call the needed functions to render the Phoenix atmospherics, though, and seems like FumeFX also does not render with Corona, so the Mesh mode of Phoenix is the only viable option.

If the script does not work for you, it may be possible to adapt the Phoenix mesh to be rendered properly in a sequence with Corona.

Thanks for the quick response. I haven't tested the script yet, but have no doubt that it would not work. I´m rendering liquids in mesh mode. I was just hoping that Corona would adapt to this situation at some time

            edit* The script works
