  • Rendering Error with Mist and Foam on Deadline

We are using the latest build of Phoenix FD and we are getting a error with

    rendering the mist and foam.

    deadline error:

    INFO: Preparing atmospherics

Warning: Monitored managed process 3dsmaxProcess is no longer running

Every time this happens the render will fail. I have even recached the same

Phoenix sim and still the same error. I have switched to vray 3.3 and still

the same error. I have tired every render setting for the mist and foam

still will fail. Do you have any ideas why?

    I've attached the full log

    Hello,

Thank you for the report! Unfortunately the log does not seem to contain much valuable info - only that 3ds max had crashed. Could you check if there is a Phoenix log file on any of the render hosts, in C:\PhoenixFD and send it as well? It has to be retrieved right after the render crash occurs.

Did it work with this exact scene and an older Phoenix nightly? Does it work with a different scene, such as a simple Phoenix setup from scratch? Would it be possible to send the scene to support so we could reproduce the issue here and debug it?

    Cheers!

Yes, the same scene was working on both nightly builds. (build 26580 and now on build 26630 ) And a simple scene of phoenix would still give the same error from scratch.

      We'll upload a file shortly.

After going through my file I found a issue with Phoenix and Deadline. The moment I change the count multiplier value to a higher number then one it will make deadline fail. Im using point mode to render out my foam since its the fastest way to render. Have you seen this issue?

I'm sure you can avoid any glitches by exporting to vrscene.
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

Yes! I managed to reproduce it, thanks for taking the time to help us figure it out. I will update you when the fix is in the nightlies.
