  • [Maya 2016] - Playback speed (decrease) with Adaptive Grid - Moving simulator

    Hey gang.

I might be doing something weird.. but when I try to modify the playback speed (slow down the fluid with both interpolation and velocity), my grid bee-bops all over world space. Not anchored.

    Maya 2016 SP5

    Best,
    Clayton

Edit: Just tried this out with the latest nightly released and the issue persists. For the time being I'm going to see if I can re-simulate all of my previous sims without an adaptive grid over the next 2-3 days. Will report back if I experience issues using a non-adaptive grid.

    Hey,

I noticed that too, will try to fix it in the next couple of days.

    Cheers!

Super cool! Thank you! I was worried I'd have to simulate everything over again.

Hey - the fix will be delayed a day - we seem to have issues with our source control system...

Bummer man. Do you have a time frame? Only reason I ask is that I have a handful of heavier simulations already cached and I'm looking to tweak the time a bit to get all the simulations to match. Have to get this project kicked out to Rebus this week and I need to know if I should bite the bullet and try to re-sim everything without an adaptive grid. Unless you have any other suggestions since re-simulating everything without an adaptive grid would take a while (would like to avoid if possible).

Thanks. Sorry to hear it's a bit more of an overhaul than expected.

Not sure yet if it's affecting just me, or PhoenixFD, or the entire office - will force a second set of nightlies tomorrow after the code for the fix is in and will bump the thread..

I'll give it a go. I think if I'm ever in Bulgaria I owe you a beer or two. Thank you.

Update: Working. Thank you for the quick turn around. This is awesome.

I spoke too soon. After testing out the nightly the problem, although less frequent and severe, is still there. I am using caches simulated before this nightly which I'd be more than happy to send to you if it would assist in finding a solution for this issue within Phoenix.

Please keep me in the loop with progress on this as well as a tentative time frame as to when a nightly can be expected. I'm currently re-simulating all of my simulations without an adaptive grid, but I fear the simulation times will be too long now to make my deadline.

Here is a video showing the issue still present-

Dammit. Hold the phone. I used 26682, not 26684. Sorry. Let me try again.

Hmmm, will try to reproduce it here and fix it for tomorrow. Just in case - would it be possible to upload a pair of caches from the beginning?

I edited my below posts moments after I realized that I was working with 26682, not 26684. 26684 works like a charm! I'll let you know if I run into further issues, but as it stands the problem looks fixed! Thank you for the great support and showing urgency in fixing this! It helped me out a great deal with this project.
