  • Can't service a beer with the last nightly build

Hello , seems the nightly build can't seems able to fill a glass like the beer tutorial.

    3DSMAX 2016 SP3
    Windows10
    PhoenixFD adv 22501

I use The new PhoenixFDLiquid with Liquid Source and the shell of my glass to make the sim is 7 times bigger than Cells.
    Everything is in Centimeter
    Dynamics options are :
    simulate air effects on
    Inertial forces on
    Std gravity ok
    steps per frame 16
    time scale 1
    scene scale 1
    ...

even with this very high steps per frame ( 16 ) the liquid stop to grow up .
I 've check with adaptative grid that i have no liquid which go out of the glass . Everything is well closed.

    Can you help me ?
    thanks for your kindness

the liquid simulator is particle based and unlike the grid simulator there is no dependence between the conservation abilities and the spf, the spf controls only the quality of the result (smooth and consistent flow vs segmentation and inconsistent liquid)
so, the most common reason for conservation issues is problem in the geometry, you can easily resolve it exporting the particles with their ID and then observing how single particle moves and where it disappears.
to do this allow the particle export, allow the id export, and run simulation. when the liquid stops the grow, wait several frames and stop the sim. zoom in and point to some newborn particle with the mouse, press the 'A' key, and then press the middle button, the selected particle will be surrounded by a purple diamond, that is easy to track, drag the timeslider and observe what happens with the particle

btw, the new liquid simulator has stronger foam algo and therefore needs less b2b interactions to produce the same force. use b2b about 200-500 instead 3000
beside the foam, there is another important improvement, the requirement for at least two cells geometry width is no longer valid, you can use low res grid, that decreases the spf requirements and the simulation speed.
in the attachment you will find the beer sample scene reworked to work with the flip solver

        Hello,

It's better and better this phoenixFd !
Now, i have some issue when the glass is moving.
If you look closely, you will see some Red point that draw a pattern like when the glass begin to move .

very interesting, first time see such thing. can you render a frame around time 10 with disabled beer rendering, glass rendering and foam rendering, i mean separately. i suppose this is a kind of beer-glass surface issue, perhaps cavities

I've find from where are the red dots.
it's happend when i use Motion blur.
the left one have motion blur, the right one no motion blur .

it's available for the white things . here the right have motion blur and strange white in liquid glass part .

You can also seeing that refraction is different with motion blur. more contrasted, more saturated.

really interesting, i think the red color originates from the environment, but still not clear why the mb causes it

Hey @ghiom3d, would it be possible to send the scene and one cache file for a frame where the issue occurs to support@chaosgroup.com so we can check what the problem is?

Ah, dang So if the max file is intact, it will do just fine too - there won't be need to send the cache over - it's only important to know in which frame we should watch out for the problem.
