  • excluding lights from phoenix fd!

    Hey,

I'm having a problem with controlling the lights within a scene(maya).

I have a phoenix fire simulation which has a light from behind, i then have an object within the fire which i want to be lit from the front but not effect on phoenix!

I'v tried putting the light in the phoenix light set to try and exclude from phoenix, and vice versa but to no joy, both lights affect phoenix.

Is there a way to have one light which effects phoenix and another that doesn't but effects the rest of the geometry in scene??

    Cheers

    Hello,

You can do this by using Maya's Light linking.

Switch to the Rendering menu set. Select the simulator and the light you wish to exclude - then from the top menu "Lighting/Shading" - select "Break light links".
