  • Isosurface help

Hi I still have issues to get a smooth render using the isosurface option.

I remember using previous versions of Vray in combination with previous version of Phoenix, enabling Isosurface produced a smooth render of the liquid surface.

But no matter what settings I try, this is what I keep getting: (using the latest nightlies of Phoenix and Vray 3.402)

Also I tried various older versions of Vray and Phoenix combinations, but still get the same issue.

I have included a very basic scene setup (3DsMax 2015)

well, this looks like something is broken, but can you explain why just not use the mesh based rendering?

Well, a mesh based render looks smooth in animation but I need to render a still frame and with the mesh based render the edges still look flat.

Also I want to do some slow motion moving liquid ...

Alright, so the workaround for the issue would be to select the simulator and drop this line into the maxscript listener:

          $.sampler=2

This will render using the Spherical sampler instead of the Linear - you can still find those in the Fire/Smoke simulator's options, but they are now hidden from the Liquid simulator. I will change the default to Spherical for the liquids.

          Thanks for finding this!

          Cheers!

            Hi Svetlin,

            I'll give that a try.
