  • phoenix sim slows down by a quater when moving the mouse.?

    hi,
i never noticed this before but i was running a sim then just got bored and spun my mouse in a circle for a bit over the 3dsmax window and phoenix slowed to a quarter of the speed while generating the sim.
maybe it`s just windows or 3dsmax being rubbish ? maybe it`s normal behaviour ? is it just my machine ?
    anyway, just curious.

    nightly 26878.cheers

ok, i had to delete and reset my 3dsmax prefs folder due to another issue listed earlier about the timeline. while not 100% the same speed, the slowdown is now less than half as slow instead of 4 times as slow as before. i assume these issue were related somehow. i guess this could just be windows stealing focus/cpu time ?

      This is quite mysterious indeed...

actually trying again, if you spam the mouse around phoenix it does significantly slow down and almost pauses when you first whip the mouse around. i know it`s probably not a sensible thing to try and set left/right mouse speed records while running a sim.
it could also be my pc of course.
a new record, i got a 4 second pause ! yay it`s like track and field or combat school from the arcades.

Have you... tried turning it off and on again?

Really can't explain it otherwise - I've been having streak of 3-4 weeks without a shutdown and selecting and deselecting Phoenix and other max objects gradually started becoming slower and slower. This was in max 2015 and is the closest thing I can think of, but the slowdown was somewhere in 3ds max itself...

it can be related to the mac preview too, i have the observation that the newer max versions tend to have more and more sophisticated preview and repaint it in more cases than the older versions
