  • Volumegrid Foam / Foam Time scale

    Hi there,

first, big congrats to the 3.0 release!! Great piece of software!!

But second, i have to simulate an timelapse effect, where only flying foam takes the important role.
But it seems that animated time scale doesn't effect allready emitted foam?
Than i try'd to load the simulation into the volumegrid, But only the fluid sim loaded. No foam. (creating an foam shader and pick the volume grid crashes max btw.)

    any ideas maybe?

Thanks a lot and best regards

Ouch, we gotta fix that. Otherwise the volume grid won't load particle of any kind, it should just deal with the grid part of the caches.

Which time scale do you change, is it the one in the Dynamics panel? You should work with the controls in the Input panel if you want to change the animation of an already done simulation - please check if this does the trick

    Cheers!

What version of V-Ray are you using? I can't make it crash in here.

For the animation you can switch to Cache index mode and animate the Direct Cache index.

As for the crash it will be fixed in the next official release of V-Ray.

              Great thanks!
Works quite well now by animating the index, but max crashed the 3rd time during viewport preview creation, or dragging the timeslider.
i have to admit that i pushing him to make 50 frames out of 3 though...
I'll see if i can slow down the base animation.

Thank you very much for your fast responses and help!

Ah - if the crash happens consistently, would it be possible to send the scene over to Support so we can fix that? Thank you

support@chaosgroup.com or if it's small enough you can attach it in a post here.
