  • rendering with Vray Volume Grids

i done a sim using the preset explosion and it looks great. when i use the cache in a vray volume grid it doesn't render the same. I've saved out the settings from the preset and loaded them into my VVG but still wont look the same. I've attached my examples and the render settings of the VVG. what am i doing wrong?

    Hello,

What version of V-Ray are you using?

From the screenshot it seems that the settings are different from the ones in the Preset. Here is a file with the settings for the explosion. Can you try and load that up?

Hey thanks for the response. first im using max 2016 vray 3.40. So i applyied the .tpr file you sent me and it was the same result. infact i applied it to my pheonix container and it change to match the vray volume grid. then when i set it back to the explosion preset it went back to the way it sould. is there something other then the tpr that is making this look? im showing the render settings that loaded from the file you supplied me.

I'm afraid this won't work automatically with the VolumeGrid until the next V-Ray release - we did some changes to the way the opacity is evaluated in Phoenix and this was after the latest V-Ray patch came out. You will have to manually increase the Simple Smoke Factor for the VVG. Sorry for the inconvenience!
