  • PHX source not updating Thinking Particles changes

    Hi,

I'm using Thinking Particles as a source for my explosion and it works fine but I have one issue is that when ever I make a change in TP, like changing the particles speed, it doesn't update automatically in PHXsource. I have to select the PHXsource that has the TP group as source, delete that group from the list and add it again for it to take the changes I made. I tried this with the scene I'm working on and another simple test scene.

    Thanks

    Hello,

What version of Phoenix are you using?

I tried with v3.0 of Phoenix and TP 6.4.0.84 and the speed of the particles updates even when simulation is running.

If you're using the latest Phoenix Version can you get me a simple scene where this is not working for you?

    Thank you,

      Hi Georgi,

I'm using Phoenix 3.0 and TP 6.4.91 (the latest for both). It happens with every scene I create not just one and I tried and made a simple particle source just to test it and it's the same. is it ok if I emailed that test scene to support for you to try it? as I'm having issues with attaching files in the forum

here are the steps I made to test

1-Create particle source in TP with 300cm speed and sim Fire/Smoke with PHX
2-Changed the speed of the particles to 100cm, played the scene to make sure TP is updated.
3-deleted the PHX cache and sim again. the result was the same as 300cm speed.
4-Selected the PHXSource object deleted the TP group from the list and add it again.
5-run another PHX sim. result is updated to 100cm speed

      Thanks

      Ali

Okey, send a file to support@chaosgroup.com and I will take a look. I will update my TP to see if that's the problem.

I got the scene and I have reproduced the issue. We'll look into it.

What I have noticed though is that if you decrease the particle size it updates the speed without a problem.

            Thank you,

Good to know you guys are on it. Maybe the issue is from TP side that's not updating the speed, just a thought. It's not an urgent thing I'll be looking for an update maybe when the nightlies starts

              Thanks
