  • flooding a container

    Hello

is there a way to flood a Phoenix Sim Container to get a solid smoke block?
at the moment we are emitting from several parallel planes.

    Thnx

    Hello,

If you want to fill the whole simulator with smoke it's fairly easy. Add an object that is emitting smoke. Go to the Rendering options under Smoke opacity choose Based on Smoke and change the value of the first point of the opacity curve. Depending on the result you're after you will probably need to set the second point of the curve to have the same value as the first one.

      Thanks for the reply!

sadly that is not exactly what I am looking for as this just emits on the surfaces of the object and I get a hollow object. I want every cell within the grid to have the value 1, so that I can apply a volume texture to it.
In order to get this the only way I found was stacking many planes into the grid so that every cell is intercepted by at least 1 plane, combining and then simulating one frame to fill the grid. This works but it seems a lot of work for a simple "flood" option.

If you try and set both points of the Smoke curve to have the same value it should be fine. Just don't forget to hide your emitter or make it not renderable.

Otherwise you could create a box geometry that completely covers the volume of the simulator, connect it to a source, leave only Smoke checked, and set the source to Brush mode with a brush effect of 100%. This would fill the volume of the box with smoke.

          Cheers!
