  • Emitter sitching from volume to surface

    Hi,

I have an emitter set to volume brush but sometimes it changes itself to surface force. I don't know what triggers is as I can't notice when exactly it is switched. I am just trying to fine tune a sim playing with many parameter and then one day I noticed this emitter was switched to surface force instead of volume brush. (it happened 3 times and the 2 first ones I thought I just accidentaly switched it).

Do you know of anything that could trigger this?

Hmm, only thing I can think of is that when you set an emitter into Solid mode, it will display a message and ask you to switch to surface force, because solids cannot use the volume modes. Could this be it?

That's odd and shouldn't happen wile working on other Phoenix parameters. We always print a warning when something has changed internally in the background. I believe it would be difficult for you to provide any steps to reproduce so we can check your scene file here.

        Ok thanks guys!

I know about the message but it's not that.

It happened 3 times last week but it didn't happen yet this week. I think it was when reopening a file, maybe a 3dsmax bug or a bug in my brain for not sleeping enough . but anyway difficult to narrow down cause i don't know what triggers it. I will tell you if it happens again.

I found out what triggers the switch. It's a new render pass plugin that I have called Vexus. It is amazing by the way. But when I execute my phoenixfd pass with it it changes the emiter from volume brush to surface force. I will have to investigate with John Martini about that.

The weird thing is that the emitter is not even supposed to be affected by that pass other than being hidden.
