  • Liquid grid no motion blur?

Rendered an image with motion blur turned on with the physical camera, and the blur worked on the Ocean Mesh outside of the PHNX grid, but the water inside the grid didn't have any of the motion blur applied.. I checked the Phoenix, VRay and 3DSMax properties and there isn't anything that says "don't use motion blur".

The red outline in the image shows the edge of the grid.

I just made few tests and it looks that the motion blur is working. Or at least there is some motion blur.
But I admit that there is something weird about how it looks. Blur amount or the direction looks quite weird sometimes.

Here are two renders from the same frame with and without foam particles. Motion blur should be really visible in both, but I think that the liquid and foam blur doesn't match.
But it's hard to say, because there is so much going on.

The scene I have has a camera moving really fast following a boat in the water. The only part that didn't' blur was the grid itself.

Do you have the velocity channel exported?

          Hi,
may I ask you does your simulator move or just the camera?

So, If you animated the simulator and the camera together going in one direction, then the simulator is static from the camera point of view and would not apply any motion blur to it. We will work on that issue.

            Thanks for reporting!

Ahhh good point. Didn't think of that. The displacement is "moving" but the grid is in the same location throughout the animation.

I have the exact same issue. I have a grid that is moving together with the camera and boat. The sim has velocity channel exported, but I can't get the ocean to get motion blur since it is "moving" in the same speed as the camera and boat. Of course this needs to have some kind of workaround, since this is a cheat to avoid simulating a large box. I guess if i unlinked the sim at every frame before rendering it could work but how would you go about doing that for an entire animation. Please let me know if a fix becomes available in the nightlies!
