Maybe a bug report...
Using nightly 3.03.01 Build 1704017317 from 01Apr2017
Max 2017 / V-Ray Adv 3.50.04.
I am running a ship-on-ocean with waveforce on a slave using backburner on my farm. All machines are updated to the new nightly and same version of Max and V-Ray.
While the sim is actively generating the sim, the single sim license from my dongle is properly engaged by the slave. I do not own additional simulation licenses, this is the license included with Phoenix.
With previous nightly builds I could open the scene on my workstation and render a frame from the cache to see how things are going.
When I click "Render" the rendering dialog Current Task: Transforming Verticies...", then a popup "Could not obtain a Simulation license! Error code: 10061."
I would understand that if I was trying to start the simulation, but this is a render.
When I click OK on the dialog, the popup closes and the frame renders normally using DR with the other machines on the farm responding correctly.
Screenshot below to prove it is not an April Fools joke!

EDIT: Rebuilt scene from scratch and problem is not reproduced. Not sure what I changed, but it is working now.
