  • Initial fill up falling through object

I am tired so maybe not seeing this as obviously as I should but after initial fill-up the liquid just falls straight through the object and disappears !

    Hi,
it's normal. That's how initial fill-up works. If you want to fill-up a geometry you could make a smaller geometry inside and attach a source to it with Brush mode selected. Also, you can make it non renderable.

It falls through the object, because when initial fill is on for the object it will make it non-solid.

Turn off gravity to keep the particles where they are born and stop them falling.

I don't understand. What is the point of initial fill up for an object if it just falls through the geometry you are filling? In realflow you could do the same thing but it remained in the geometry (as far as I remember).

You can define the liquid's shape by this object.
If you have a vase, then you model the solid water inside the vase and pick the modeled water as initial fill-object. So you do not need to pour the water in the vase to fill it. And of course you do not want to have the liquid collide with that initial-fill-object.

ok. That makes sense. Thanks. I'm assuming that once you set the simulation running the water would take a little while to settle down after the initial fill-up.
