  • Duplicate a basic simulation 30 or 40 times? practical?

I have to work on a water feature that has about 40 small water features - one of them is a reasonably small simulation, about 3 million cells - nothing special.

Would it be feasibly for me to simply duplicate this grid and point to the cache and move it around - it doesn't need to be static,it's just a still.

Would it be easier to do that or convert to a mesh? - the thing is though, I would like the ability to change it at client request - is duplicating the sum like this feasible or is there a better way?

Instancing still doesn't work as far as I know, just have to use copies. I do it all the time but if you do need to change then got to manually change values or better still to use max script to change values on mass.

I will just be loading the cache in - theoretically if I edit the main simulator the rest will change? - I suppose i could also use it to edit the start points to add a bit of variety?

Yea the master sim will change the sim of all the others but not with regards to render/mesh settings if they need changing
