  • Filling a swimming pool

Im fairly new to Phoenix 3 and i am running a few tests. Is it possible to fill a swimming pool by filling the walls of the pool with something like an initial fill up and let it drop and settle. I remember using Realflow many years ago and you could make the object fill automatically rather than pouring water in and waiting till its full. Any help appreciated

    Hello,

This is fairly easy - just make a dummy object that you want to use as a filler, right-click on it and from the PhoenixFD Properties add Initial Liquid Fill.

Well, you can make a simulator grid around the pool's walls and then use Initial fiil up option in Dynamics roll-out menu. If you have any problems with that send a screen shot of the scene and we will help you.

        That's a valid way too.

Thanks for the info - i tried the dummy object method which sort of works but the amount of water released into the pool below seems to be alot less for some reason. The pool has sloping bottom which prevented me from doing the sim grid around the pool.

Also is there a way to quickly slow the particles down so that they are completely still ?

I would like to mention that the geometry must be closed (shelled, solid). Plain (not shelled) geometry could cause improper simulation. And about your question, you should wait for a while until the liquid is settled.

Is there a reason why on my dummy object the initial fill water is only on the edges of the object. In the Phoenix properties for the dummy object i have initial fill on and it is set to default on voxel mode. The actual pool walls are a solid object and set to solid object.
