  • Dashes in cache file name ruined my day

Just a point here to anyone banging their heads against the wall in their simulations, where the first frame renders fine but the rest don't show in your preview.

DO NOT put minus symbols in your filenames.

I was troubleshooting forever trying to figure out why my sim was only working for one frame, then processing and saving but not previewing the rest. I finally came up with this solution and felt the need to post.

For example, I was using darkwaters-fill-####.aur as my cache naming format. It worked all along as ###-, ####-darkwaters, dw#### etc ... but if you put the minus before the hashtags it won't work past frame 0.

Yes, this is because Phoenix now reading those as negative frames on the timeline.

As a general rule, you should never use - in naming conventions, rather use an underscore_.

More of an oversight than a naming convention choice, I didn't think Phoenix was evaluating anything outside of the hashtags, but of course 'how would it know?' without further complicating the string. Anyways it's here in case someone else makes the same careless mistake.
