  • adaptive grid stopped working

    hi,
i`m doing a fire/smoke sim and switched the adaptive grid from smoke to temperature to see the difference because the adaptive grid wasn`t keeping up after a while. i then switched it back to adaptive on smoke and it stops adapting completely, it`s just stuck at initial size. even reloading the file didn`t fix it, it`s like the cache (which now has the non-adaptive grid data) now overwrites the adaptive grid when trying to resimulate.
Any way to get it unstuck ? I tried clearing the cache but the grid is now just un-adaptive.
phoenix 3.05 latest release, not nightly.
    thanks

Sounds like you had to check your adaptive Threshold and make sure it's about 0,0something for smoke.

        Hi Svetlin,
It was set at 0.001. I switched to adaptive temperature and that went to default 1000 and when i switched back it was 0.001 again, I double checked it but it was stuck when simulating. I tried clearing the cache and tweaking the grid size up/down and a few other tweaks to see if i could make it adaptive again but it wasn`t until restarting 3dsmax that it just adapted again without changing any settings. I don`t know if it`s phoenix or 3dsmax or my machine doing something but it just refused to adapt for a while. It happened once yesterday but i didn`t think anything of it. I`ll see if i can replicate it.
        thanks

Hmmm, very weird. Bad thing is that if it fixed itself after reopening max, sending a scene won't be able to reproduce it here. Maybe some memory got corrupted and instead of crashing, Max continued but with the program working incorrectly from this point on. If you are able to make it happen again, the steps would be very helpful!
