Phoenix working great on the GPU etc... using it in geometry mode along with Environment fog doesn't work though I know its early doors but just testing everything
This is known limitation for the moment. We print warning about that - "Phoenix volume found in the scene, environment fog is disabled".
We can do in theory both, but I am not sure if we are going to have that for the official release. You should be able to get similiar effect using multiple phoenix sims (one for the fog for example).
Geometry Mode isn't supported on the GPU (we plan to make the render elements work without it(note: currently there are no render elements on the GPU)).
And yeah unfortunately you cannot have both EnvFog and Phoenix in one scene(you can only pick one currently), we've got this issue reported.
Thanks for the replies guys, I was thinking about trying the enviro fog with phoenix instead, shall give that ago. Just so you know, I didn't get the warning printed. Maybe I missed it

The warning should be in the V-Ray log, it is not in the VFB.
Ah ok cool... just created the environment fog using phoenix but I assume it has the same limitation as GPU preview of the viewport i.e. you cant view it when the camera is in the grid.
